Placed like a diamond set in one of the most beautiful coves of the Divine Coast, situated between the towns of Positano and Amalfi, Praiano was once the summer residence of the Doge of the Republic of Amalfi.

The lower part of the village extends down towards the beach of Praia to the east and to the charming uncontaminated Gavitella beach to the west. Its rocky coastline cliffs look out onto the best views of the area, at sunset you can see Positano, the Galli Isles and as far as the Faraglioni Rocks off Capri.

This stretch of coast has many little landing stages and beaches providing the possibility of enjoying the caress of the waves to those who find the narrow steps that go through olive groves, pines, oleanders, buganvillea, and lead directly to the sea.

The town is a picturesque group of houses overlooking the sea. Praiano is proud of notable artistic and architectural works, such as the impressive watch towers guarding the sea, the church dedicated to Saint Gennaro with its stupendous majolica floor and the Convent of S.Maria of Castrum which has paleochristian frescoes.
